Law enforcement was the order of the day during yesterday’s Clean and Maintain My City Operation held at the corner of Anton Lembede and Mahatma Gandhi streets.
A joint operation by Metro Police and South African Police Service included the checking of vehicles and drivers if they have the necessary licenses and permits.
The Spokesperson of Metro Police, Senior Superintendent, Eugene Msomi said all we are asking for from motorists is compliance.
“As we are approaching Easter holidays, we urge drivers to ensure that the vehicles which they are driving are in good condition to avoid unnecessary accidents on the roads,” said Msomi.
Today’s operation concentrated on checking warrants of arrest, roadworthiness of vehicles, street traders obstructing pavements, illegal panel beaters, street car washers and stolen cars.
Msomi said about 32 public transport drivers were arrest on the scene after they were found to have accumulated warrants of arrests.
