EThekwini Municipality wishes to apologise to residents living in the uThongathi areas for water supply interruption that lasted for more than a week.
The interruptions were as a result of the 7 km furrow leading into the Water Treatment Works not receiving the desired sufficient flow to service the entire area.
EThekwini Water services had been experiencing challenges with the in flow of water into the uThongathi Water Treatment Works for more than a week.
Investigations revealed that the flow in the furrow had almost stopped which prevented the uThongathi Mill and the new emergency uMgeni Pumping scheme to Hazelmere Dam from operating properly.
Technicians have confirmed that as from 8 June 2015, the furrow and the treatment works are up and running.
However, most of the reservoirs are still very low and water tankers will be dispatched to service the community for the next few days as the reservoirs fill up until the water capacity returns to normal.
The Municipality apologises for the inconvenience caused.
