19 June 2026 by My Durban

Durban’s tourism industry gathered in celebration of achievement, innovation, and resilience at the prestigious 5th Durban Tourism Business Awards, held at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre last night.

Marking a significant five-year milestone, the awards paid tribute to the entrepreneurs, accommodation establishments, tour operators, event organisers, tour guides, filmmakers and tourism pioneers whose passion and dedication continue to shape Durban’s visitor economy and strengthen its standing as one of South Africa’s leading tourism destinations.

Hosted by the Durban Tourism Directorate, the awards have grown into one of the City’s premier platforms for recognising businesses and individuals who consistently deliver exceptional experiences, embrace innovation, and contribute to the growth and sustainability of the tourism sector.

Addressing guests at the ceremony, eThekwini Mayor Councillor Cyril Xaba highlighted the critical role tourism plays in driving economic development, creating employment opportunities, and attracting investment to the City.
