Bespoke Hair Spa, Beauty and Personal Care Salon offers experienced and talented hair stylists who provide expert hairstyling, cutting, colouring as well as male grooming for the fashion-forward.
Owned by Donald Olive (47) from Morningside, Durban, for the past 5 years, Bespoke Hair provides clients with top quality products and service based on years of experience within the industry.
As a young child, Olive dreamed of following in his father’s footsteps by becoming an Attorney, however in his teenage years, Olive found his passion for styling. He managed to secure a position as an apprentice under German hairstylist Pasquale Tennhardt where he learnt valuable skills including discipline and hard work. After qualifying, Olive worked in London as a junior stylist with Robert Fielding of Regent Street ?and Leonards of Mayfair. After three years abroad, Olive made his return to South Africa.
Having been in the industry most of his life, Olive can testify to many highlights, however there are only a few that have made an impact on his career – that of styling English actress, film producer and director Trudi Styler’s hair as well as her husband and famous musician Sting’s hair while in South Africa. He also styled her Serene Highness Princess Charlene of Monaco’s hair while she was in SA, which was a great privilege and one that he will always remember.
For him, being a stylist and having the opportunity of transforming clients every day is memorable. “Seeing people leaving the salon happy always gives me a kick,” he says.
Apart from being a talented stylist, Olive has a keen interest in Art Nouveau of any form and in his spare time, visits Cafe 1999, his favourite restaurant, and even takes a stroll around his area before grabbing a coffee at Vida E Caffe.
Situated on the ground floor, Stadium Building, Lion Match Complex, 892 Umgeni Road, Bespoke Hair caters to all ages and offers a full professional service in a welcoming atmosphere.
