RIP Welekazi Sibiya

The eThekwini Municipality has learnt with sadness of the passing of Councillor Welekazi Sibiya, a serving member of the eThekwini Council.

Councillor Sibiya served residents through her participation in Council processes, where she raised matters affecting her constituency and engaged on questions of governance, accountability and service delivery.

Her work in the Council chamber reflected a sustained interest in the concerns of the communities she represented.

Speaker of the eThekwini Municipality, Councillor Thabani Nyawose, said Council has lost a public representative who applied herself to the responsibilities of the office.

“Councillor Sibiya took her duties seriously and used the platforms available to her to advance the interests of residents. Her passing is felt across Council, and her contribution to the work of this institution is acknowledged,” said Councillor Nyawose.

The Municipality extends its condolences to Councillor Sibiya’s family, friends and colleagues, and to the residents she served.
