The IFP has renewed calls on the Minister of Public Works, Thulas Nxesi to resign from his position with immediate effect as he is in the forefront in leading the cover-up on behalf of President Zuma over Nkandla.
IFP Spokesperson on Public Works, Mr Petros Sithole, MP, said “The alleged findings on the Nkandla upgrades published recently in the media show serious misconduct by the President and the department of Public Works. Essentially it appears that nation has been misled over the exorbitant R200 million upgrades at the president’s private home which were fraudulently touted as necessary security upgrades. Minister Nxesi must resign and anyone found guilty of inflating tender prices as per the Public Protectors report, charged with fraud. President Zuma must also come clean to the nation. It is patently obvious that he was involved and fully aware of what was going on at his private residence. This is yet another stain on his colourful presidency.”
Any other person or entity also found to be involved in these fraudulent and corrupt activities must be prosecuted to the fullest extents of the law.
“Public funds have been wasted through illegal price inflation and through unnecessary expenditure. Those involved must not only be named and shamed, but also be banned from dealing with the department or any other government entity in the future,” said Sithole.
