Drakenzicht: Pools, Braai Rooms and a Pre-school in Paarl

15 October 2026 by My Durban

Families hoping to settle into a new Paarl home before the long summer break have a fresh reason to look at Drakenzicht, the luxury estate Legaro Property Development has built on Lustigan Road. Released in PAARL in October 2026, as spring in the Cape Winelands gives way to summer, this announcement highlights the family-focused design behind the estate. Every home has its own private garden with a tiled pool, an enclosed braai room that opens onto a patio, and living areas that flow between indoors and out. The estate’s Lifestyle Centre also houses an onsite pre-school. For buyers comparing homes for sale Paarl has on offer this season, Drakenzicht puts daily family routines and outdoor entertaining behind one secure gate.

Buyers can choose from designer three and four bedroom homes in single storey, double storey and penthouse layouts. Each one looks out over the Drakenstein mountains, and prices start at R7,399,900.

Built for life outside

Winelands summers are lived outdoors, and the homes at Drakenzicht were planned around that. Stackable doors and windows in black aluminium open the living spaces straight onto the garden, where every home has a private tiled swimming pool. The enclosed braai room and patio let families cook and host guests whatever the weather does, whether that is a balmy December night or a blustery Cape afternoon.

A body corporate looks after the private gardens, so owners get the outdoor space without giving up their weekends to maintain it. This is part of the lock-up-and-go thinking behind the estate: owners can head away for the holidays with the house and garden taken care of while they are gone.

Year-round comfort indoors

The interiors feature Oggie engineered wood floors, a Stephen Pikus chandelier and a generous kitchen fitted with SMEG appliances, supported by a private pantry and scullery. The master suite includes a luxurious bathroom. When winter arrives, a wood-burning fireplace warms the lounge, and when the Paarl heat sets in, air conditioning cools the living area and every bedroom.

Complete insulation and large double-glazed windows keep indoor temperatures steady across the seasons. A double garage with each home gives families secure parking plus room to store cars, bikes and holiday equipment.

Sustainable power and water

Solar panels, a 12kWh battery and an 8kW inverter come standard in every Drakenzicht home, so households can count on a dependable power supply. The estate is also water-wise and built around sustainable, green living, an important point in a region that keeps a close eye on water use during its dry summers.

On top of this, Drakenzicht holds EDGE certification. Legaro says this allows qualifying buyers to access a 0.25% interest rate discount from FNB, ABSA, Standard Bank or Nedbank, along with a cash back rebate subject to the bank’s terms. Anyone weighing up a house to buy in Paarl may find these features cut monthly running costs while also shrinking the household’s environmental footprint.

Pre-school inside the Lifestyle Centre

Parents of young children are likely to value the onsite Lifestyle Centre more than almost anything else on the estate. Sports, fitness, business and leisure amenities sit alongside a pre-school, turning the morning drop-off into a short stroll that never leaves the estate. Those who work from home can use the business facilities, and older children and adults have places to train and unwind nearby.

A pre-school within a secure estate takes away one of the biggest daily time drains for parents of little ones. Traffic no longer dictates drop-off and pick-up times, and children can begin their schooling in a setting they know, close to their own front door. Families moving to Paarl from Gauteng or elsewhere in the Western Cape also have one fewer arrangement to sort out before they arrive, which makes it easier to time a purchase around the start of the new school year.

Security that gives peace of mind

The estate is protected by state-of-the-art security, including electric fencing, a CCTV camera network, round-the-clock private security, trained guards and facial recognition. Within its boundaries, families can relax in their gardens and children can enjoy the shared spaces without worry.

Paarl highlights on the doorstep

Many of Paarl’s best-known spots are a short drive from the estate. Legaro lists nearby attractions such as Avondale Wine Estate, Laborie Wine Estate, Boland Park Cricket Stadium, Boschenmeer Golf Estate, Drakenstein Shopping Centre, Parelberg Shopping Centre, The Wagyu Experience and Noop Restaurant. A summer weekend might mean a wine tasting, a round of golf, a cricket match or dinner out, while the weekly shop stays close by.

The right buyer for Drakenzicht

With three and four bedroom options, Drakenzicht naturally appeals to growing families and to people moving to the Western Cape who want room, security and a lifestyle centre at one address. Its lock-up-and-go design also works well for semigrators, retirees and owners who divide their time between cities. Investors assessing Paarl property will see that designer finishes, sustainability features and onsite amenities give the estate a distinct place in the Winelands market. Those after an even more exclusive finish can look at the Drakenzicht Signature Collection.

An award-winning developer

An award-winning architect designed every home at Drakenzicht. Since its founding in 2017, Legaro Property Development has delivered projects including 78 Corlett, Melville Lane, Steyn City, 38 Morsim, Melrose Walk and 51a First Road. Its 38 Morsim Road development won recognition for Best Residential Development South Africa at the 2020 Africa and Arabia Property Awards.

Families who want to move before the new school year starts can view the brochure, sales map and price list online, then book a viewing to see the homes, gardens and Lifestyle Centre for themselves.
