A bonus point win to the visiting Leopards gave Jaco Pienaar’s team a reason to celebrate as they claimed another big scalp on the road. Having beaten WP and the Toyota Free State away from home, the North West team secured this win with a strong spell just before and after halftime.
The home side was up early after a try by Stefan van Schalkwyk, but a five pointer by speedster Blessing Makhavhu and a Lourens Boddington penalty allowed the Leopards to take the lead.
The Sharks scored another through Joseph Jones and when Colin Willemse converted and kicked a penalty, the home side looked well on their way with a 17-8 lead after 30 minutes of play.
A yellow card to Nkulukelo Marwana allowed the Leopards back into the game. Jeandre Rudolph scored just before the break and when Boddington raced through and converted his own try, the momentum and lead was with the Leopards team.
A second for Makhavhu gave them a ten-point cushion and although the home side scored in the final minute, they ran out of time to repeat that.
