Allow MyPR to boast a bit.
A recent signee to our Featured Press Release submission service asked me to please do her first submission for her. Now, if you know ‘Mom’ like I know ‘Mom’ you would understand why I immediately acceeded!
It just so happens that the title of the Press Release – Elephants on Cape Road was very unique as a search on Google for that specific set of keywords in that specific order didn’t dish up one single result. So a good candidate for tracking the effectiveness of MyPR to the Public Relations industry and clients I thought.
After publication on MyPR this happened:
The results for this search term – http://www.google.co.za/search?q=”Elephants%20on%20Cape%20Road” – dished up 10 solid results and repeating the search after choosing to include the omitted results option then you got 108 results (please be aware that results numbers change over time).
BUT, best of all – the search has immediately associated (in the feature side bar on Google) that search term “Elephants on Cape Road” with ‘Mom’s’ client Nyosi Game Reserve in Gqeberha (see screenshot below). How did the association happen? Because there is one hyperlink to Nyosi in the article in a specific place.
Second best of all is that a search engine listing is far far more valuable than any social media mention – have you ever tried searching for information on Facebook or Twitter? A nightmare! Search Engine links are the gift that keep on giving for years and years. You just have to make sure that you post content that targets specific sets of keywords time and time again. BUT, remember that less is more – do it properly and ethically and you will be rewarded.
Also if you are using a media monitoring company like Novus or Newsclip or Meltwater they would give you an AVE value for EACH mention and ALL THAT just from ONE posting of your press release. Of course if you were charging your clients for media monitoring mentions that would accelerate your earnings somewhat.
Magic?
Maybe?
