Members of the public are informed that two valves on a major pipeline supplying the Hocking Place reservoir have broken in a closed position. Technicians are on site investigating the possible solutions to replace these valves, but further problems were encountered due to aged pipeline and size of the valve.
A special fitting needs to be made to replace these valves. The Municipality is utilising all its resources to repair this main as soon as possible.
The Hocking Place reservoir further supplies Club House, Hygarth and Tshelimnyama reservoirs.
Currently Hocking Place and Club House reservoirs are empty, while in other reservoirs, water levels are dropping. Residents in areas where they still have water are urged to use water sparingly.
This shutdown will affect the following areas:

- Ashley
- Alexander Rd
- Hocking Place
- St Marys Hospital
- Hatton Estate
- Pine Ridge
- Part Of New Germany
- Westgate Park
- NPA Testing Grounds, Stockville Rd
- Caversham Glen
- Farmingham Ridge
- Nazarerth
- Pinetown South
- Marrain Ridge
- Tshelimnyama
This repair will take 24 hours. The Municipality is trying to supply the above affected areas from another zone where possible to reduce the impact.
Any areas that experience water interruptions will be assisted by Municipal water tankers to the best of our ability.
