Warriors topple Dolphins in thriller in Gqeberha:
Gqeberha – The Warriors beat the Hollywoodbets Dolphins on the final day of their CSA 4-Day Domestic Series clash at St George’s Park as the Dolphins fell 69 runs short of their victory target on Sunday.
The Dolphins started the day on 71/3 with SJ Erwee and nightwatchman Odirile Modimokoane at the crease.
Erwee’s second innings contribution ended early as we was dismissed in the first over of the day, caught by Warriors centurion Diego Rosier.
Modimokoane was joined at the crease by Khaya Zondo, and they revived the Dolphin’s run chase with a 48 run partnership before the determined Modimokoane fell to Wihan Lubbe.
Jason Smith kept the Dolphins hopes alive, adding a further 38 runs in a partnership with Zondo, who fell to Ndwandwa for 31.
By lunch the game was delicately poised at 158/6, with the Dolphins needing another 114 runs to chase down their victory target.
Smith and Andile Phehlukwayo maintained the Dolphins momentum with a seventh wicket stand that added another forty crucial runs, setting up a thrilling end to the enthralling encounter.
However Ziyaad Abrahams and Beyers Swanepoel had other ideas, and crushed the Dolphins hopes by taking the last four wickets for the addition of just five runs, handing the Warriors victory by 69 runs.

Dolphins chase victory target after Warriors fight back:
Gqeberha – The Hollywoodbets Dolphins set their sights on chasing down a victory target of 272 after a determined Warriors fight-back on the third day of their CSA 4-Day Domestic Series clash at St George’s Park on Saturday.
By stumps the Dolphins had reached 71/3, with SJ Erwee on 28 with Odirile Modimokoane yet to score, needing another 201 runs with seven wickets in hand, setting the stage for a thrilling final day of a clash that has see-sawed throughout.
The Warriors resumed on 158/4, still trailing by 39 runs. Matthew Breetzke and Diego Rosier dug in and took the hosts into an overall lead before Breetzke was trapped in front by spinner Odirile Modimokoane.
Beyers Swanepoel then lofted a drive to Grant Roelofsen off Jason Smith to leave the home side at 228/6.
Rosier flourished in the session after lunch on a typical bat-friendly St George’s Park day three pitch and was the backbone of a resilient Warriors fight back.
Modimokoane accounted for Glenton Stuurman adjudged LBW for 34 after a 53 run seventh wicket partnership with Rosier, and Tsepo Ndwandwa helped add 35 runs for the eighth wicket before he fell to Daryn du Pavillon.
Having turned the tide of the match Rosier rode his luck and was the last wicket to fall for a pivotal 136, becoming Modimokoane’s third LBW wicket as the 21-year-old left-arm spinner finished with figures of 4/106.
The Warriors ended their second innings on 390 shortly after tea, setting the Dolphins a target of 272 to win the match.
The Dolphins lost Grant Roelofsen in the fourth over, bringing Marques Ackerman to join opener SJ Erwee at the crease. The pair added a fluent sixty partnership for the second wicket before Ackerman was bowled for 36.
After Tshepang Dithole was adjudged LBW to Wihan Lubbe, Modimokoane defiantly kept the Warriors bowlers at bay until stumps were drawn with the Dolphins on 71/3, 201 shy of their victory target.
