A 26-year-old KwaZulu-Natal man was arrested for allegedly setting his family home on fire after an argument with his brother on Tuesday.
Private security company Trans Natal Flying Squad rushed to Oaklands in Verulam‚ north of Durban‚ after a member of the public called in with a report of a house fire in Moodley’s Lane.
“Upon questioning the people that occupy the house‚ we established that two brothers were fighting. One of them set the house alight and walked out‚” said Trans Natal’s head Suren Balram.
Balram said the man was expected to appear in court on Tuesday for allegedly assaulting his mother.
“The suspect didn’t go to court therefore a warrant of arrest was issued‚” he said.
“An hour after the incident‚ I arrested the suspect in the Verulam Cemetery. He was positively identified by family members. He was handed over to Verulam police‚” Balram said.
