A surge of excitement swept through the venue yesterday as City leadership, management and job seekers experienced the official unveiling of the Digitally You e?Recruitment Job Application Portal, a smarter, fair and transparent system set to transform how municipal vacancies are accessed, applied for and managed across eThekwini.
The unveiling marks a significant milestone in the Municipality’s drive to modernise recruitment, address longstanding challenges and restore trust in the job application process.
New Digitally You E-Recruitment is placing fairness, accessibility and dignity for job seekers at the centre of recruitment.
The launch follows a strategic pause on the advertising of job vacancies from December, allowing the Municipality to transition from paper?based recruitment to a single advanced digital platform designed to improve efficiency, accountability and service excellence.
Although the Digitally You system is live and fully operational, new vacancies will begin loading on the platform on Friday, 10 April, once the current job circular closes on its advertised closing date this Friday, ensuring fairness and continuity for applicants.
Chairperson of the Governance and Human Resources Committee, Councillor Nkosenhle Madlala, said the system reflects a caring, ethical Municipality committed to performance and excellence.
“This platform strengthens employee performance, eliminates inefficiencies, addresses job scamming and fraudulent activities, and ensures recruitment is based strictly on merit,” he said.
Councillor Madlala added that the new system consolidates fragmented processes into one efficient platform that improves how the Municipality serves communities while prioritising citizens with fairness, dignity and transparency.
The system allows applicants to create and complete profiles, upload documents and prepare in advance, ensuring applications are seamless and stress free when vacancies go live.
Digitally You automatically screens applications, confirms submissions, flags missing documents and immediately notifies applicants whether minimum requirements are met, eliminating uncertainty, delays and anxiety.
Job seeker Nondumiso Ntuli welcomed the change. “Digitally You makes applying easy using my phone or device anytime, anywhere, with everything at my fingertips. The process is transparent and restores confidence that applications are handled fairly,” she said.
By removing paper systems and manual interference, Digitally You restores trust and signals a corruption?free, people?centred recruitment process.
Job seekers are encouraged to register, update profiles and prepare ahead of Friday.
