ULT.X Headed For Sun City

16 March 2020 by My Durban

ULT.X Headed For Sun City:

Sun City – BMX and Skateboarding are now latest Olympic sports in Tokyo for the 2020 Olympic Games. Ultimate.X has again responded by accepting Sun International’s 3rd invitation to host the most significant action sports event on the African continent – ULT.X – at the iconic Sun City Resort, from 20th to 22 March 2020.

The best African action sports athletes will pit their skills against the likes of X-Games competitors Pat Casey (BMX) and Tomas Vintr (Skate), Kevin Peraza, Ben Wallace and many more, as well as some ULT.X newcomers like Tom van den Bogaard. Not to mention the always hungry Monster Army young guns Bryce Tryron, Alec Danelutti and Jack Borthwick.

With 21 countries represented, the global stars of action sports will descend onto Sun City and the North West province this March for the African BMX and Skate Champs.
The highlights of ULT.X will be the African BMX and Skateboarding Championships on Saturday, with FMX and MTX shows through the day, as well as partner brand activations, to allow the public to engage with the athletes, brands and sponsors. This will lead into the Sunday pool party, followed by the entire crew heading into the heart of the African bush for a game drive and boma dinner.

The road to The Olympics is being paved by events such as ULT.X. The dream to take the sports from the streets to the flame has never been more tangible. Thalente Biyela, a pro skateboarder from Durban and a South African Olympic hopeful, had the following to say:

“Olympics 2020, you see this smile on my face right? Skateboarding being in the Olympics makes it that much bigger. You can now go to the Olympics to ride a skateboard – that’s amazing!”
ULT.X is endorsed by Action Sports Africa, the continent’s leading investment and development platform for athletes, events & brands in action sports.

Markus Museler, a founding director of Action Sports Africa & ULT.X Creator, said:

“ULT.X is a huge opportunity for local Skaters and BMX riders to test their skills against the best international talent and get a feel of what their chances are in the Olympics. We’re building a circuit of events so that as many guys and girls who share the Olympic dream have a shot at making it come true”.

It is going to be a massive event. It will be incredible to experience some of the worlds best Action Sports LIVE, while soaking in the beauty, the adrenaline of the Pilanesberg and the iconic Sun City Resort in its 40th year

The area provides endless wonder, with hot air ballooning, big game safaris, zipline canopy tours, cultural immersion experiences and 2 world-class golf courses.

There will also be a free Jack Parow concert on Saturday night, that will rock the house as only Parow can.
