Thongathi Mall hearings to start

30 May 2014 by Alan

The Thongathi Mall Commission of Inquiry investigating the collapse of the mall is expected to begin its hearings tomorrow, the Department of Labour said.

The mall collapsed in November last year, leaving two people dead and 29 others injured.

The commission, appointed by the Department of Labour, will be chaired by the department’s occupational health and safety manager, Phumudzo Maphaha.

The week-long hearings will be held in the Thongathi Municipal Offices (325 Main Road, opposite First National Bank), and are expected to start at 9am and end at 5pm.

The commission is expected to sit for at least six months. – SAnews.gov.za
