The #MySchoolGiving Christmas Campaign: How many of you have a MySchool card? Mine is linked to my Woolies card and I honestly hadn’t given much thought as to where the money goes and who it benefits after it’s donated. I think I elected for them to choose a beneficiary on my behalf, which is perfect, as they can then see where it’s needed most. In 2016, over R70 million has been raised thanks to cardholders, which has been shared across a range of schools, charities and conservation organisations! That is amazing! Here’s a quick rundown of where your money went this year: Animal causes: National Council of SPCAs received over R300k. Over R1 million for regional societies: Sandton SPCA, Tshwane SPCA, Cape of Good Hope SPCA and Alberton SPCA, as well as the Kloof, Durban and Amanzimtoti SPCA. Smaller localised animal welfare organisations also benefitted: Highveld Horse Care Unit: R147 701.78 CartHorse Protection Association operating on the Cape Flats: R92 929.62 False Bay’s TEARS (The Emma Animal Rescue Society): R272 086.33 MyPlanet Rhino Fund which is managed by the Endangered Wildlife Trust:R2 483 344.39 Children’s charities: Red Cross Hospital: R200 000.00 CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation: R125 383.39 Cotlands: R108 405.18 Local children’s organisations: Durbanville Children’s Home: R38 034.95 Johannesburg’s Abraham […]
