EThekwini Municipality would like to inform residents that the Municipal bus service is fully operational with buses back on the road this morning.
The bus service was interrupted yesterday when drivers embarked on strike action regarding payment of their January salaries. All Tansnat employees have since been paid.
Last year drivers went on strike for three weeks after their December salaries and bonuses were not paid.
However no further bus service disruptions are anticipated following a signed agreement between eThekwini Municipality and bus operator Tansnat on Friday, 29 January 2016.
The agreement, to be made an order of court, also provides for the appointment of an intervention team to be led by a team of auditors to oversee the financial management of Tannat’s business and the company’s bank account.
The agreement further provides for the appointment of a reputable person or firm to adjudicate the issue of monetary claims that the City and Tansnat have registered against each other to determine who owes whom money and how much.
