Eskom announced a Stage 3 emergency load-shedding which commenced at 11:00 and expected to continue until 22:00, today.
Eskom has also taken a decision to load shed over the weekend in order to build up reserves for the week ahead. This is due to depleted water reserves and logistical issues relating to diesel supplies at their peaking power plants. The capacity available to meet demand for electricity will be reduced as a result.
We request all consumers to switch off major appliances when the power goes down. We are still experiencing high levels of overload tripping on restoration of power after scheduled outages.
Consumers can help alleviate pressure from the system by reducing their electricity usage as much as they can.
