Sharks Club XV squad announcement:
Head coach Jeff Harper has announced his 2016 Sharks Club XV team to compete in the Amateur Provincial Tournament, which will take place in Kimberley from 22nd to 26th August 2016.
Harper, the current head coach of Amanzimtoti, has selected the strongest possible combination of players from the available premier divisions clubs.
The team includes a large contingent from Toti, which is the top ranked team available for selection due to Gold Cup commitments.
Players from SA Home Loans Durban Collegians and Your Communications College Rovers were not considered for selection due to their involvement in the SA Rugby Gold Cup competition. . The only exceptions to this ruling are two players from College Rovers, who due to playing in the earlier Varsity Shield, are excluded from Gold Cup teams.
Convenor of selectors, Juno Fourie said, “We believe that we have selected the best possible team to represent the province at this years competition. The selections process is never easy as we have a strong pool of club players in the province.”
With reference to the make up of both the management team and playing team, Fourie went on to say, “ I am proud of the fact that our team is fully transformed and that all players and management have been selected on merit. The KZNRU are fully commitment to the development and transformation of talent in our province, and I believe that this team is evidence of this in action.”
“It is a great honour to wear the Sharks on our jerseys and we thank the unions and the Sharks for the support and I am very certain that our boys will do the province proud.
