SADESMO Delighted

7 October 2013 by Alan

The South African Democratic Student Movement (SADESMO) has applauded the appointment of Peggy Nkonyeni as MEC for Education.

“We are delighted by this appointment as it is clear that Education in KwaZulu-Natal is undergoing a crises and we need someone who is going to step up and work to change this situation for the better of learners in KZN,” said SADESMOs National Academic Officer, Nonkululeko Nkwanyana.

“Schools in the rural areas are faced with a lot challenges as there is a lack of knowledge about ways or means in which they are able to further their Education for a brighter future,” added Nkwanyana.

“We as SADESMO hope that Miss Nkonyeni’s agenda puts the interests of students first and keep education free of political agendas,” said Nkwanyana.

“We wish her well as she sees to it that all schools are properly resourced, that muddy schools are properly built and teachers are well compensated to avoid unnecessary strikes,” she concluded.
