Roelofsen master class guides Dolphins home:

Durban – A career best 147 not out from Grant Roelofsen helped the Hollywoodbets Dolphins to an epic five wicket Momentum One Day Cup win, via the DLS Method, over the Momentum Multiply Titans at SuperSport Park Centurion on Friday.

Roelofsen provided a staunch back-bone for the Dolphins throughout their chase and managed to score the fifteen needed off the final over with two balls to spare.

Bowling first the Dolphins had a strong Titans line-up to deal with and the home side started well with Tony de Zorzi and Henry Davids putting on 61 for the first wicket which gave them good momentum going into the rest of the their innings.

Both openers were dismissed before the Titans got to ninety as Okuhle Cele and Imran Tahir bagged the wickets of Davids and De Zorzi respectively.

Grant Thomson scored a quick-fire 68 from 60 balls while Dean Elgar played a good hand finishing on 74 not out off 67 balls.

Thomson and Elgar put on 98 for the third wicket as their stand was interrupted by rain which reduced the game to 39 overs per side.

When Thomson was dismissed by Rob Frylinck, Titans captain Heinrich Klaasen joined Elgar and the duo continued to score freely with a partnership of 48 runs off just over five overs which pushed the Titans beyond 250.

Elgar finished undefeated while Farhaan Behardien was eleven not out as the Titans finished their 39 overs on 275 for four.

The wickets were shared for the Dolphins with Frylinck, Kerwin Mungroo, Cele and Tahir all picking up a wicket.

The chase started well for the visitors as Roloefsen and Sarel Erwee combined to score 69 for the first wicket in just over ten overs. DLS meant that the Dolphins had to score 284 in 39 overs.

Erwee was dismissed for 38 from 32 balls while Vaughn van Jaarsveld added 18 before he was run out with the score on 101.

Marques Ackerman fell cheaply before Khaya Zondo joined Roelofsen to begin the Dolphins’ charge in the back half of their innings.

98 runs later when Zondo was on 39 off 34 balls, he was bowled which might have made the chase more difficult for the Dolphins, however Rob Frylinck’s 21 off 16 balls helped them maintain that momentum.

When Frylinck was dismissed the Dolphins still needed 27 off 16 balls.

In the next eleven balls Roelofsen made 25 of the 29 runs as the Dolphins got home with two balls to spare.

The Hollywoodbets Dolphins face the World Sports Betting Cape Cobras at the Pietermaritzburg Oval on Sunday, 9 February.
