The Sharks have joined forces with &Beyond and #Rhinoswithoutborders to raise awareness around the rhino poaching crisis in South Africa, as well as to assist in raising funds to assist with anti-poaching initiatives.
A number of Cell C Sharks players spent some time at the Phinda Private Game Reserve in January 2016, working closely with the rangers, anti-poaching unit, vets and other staff members at the Reserve to see what goes on and also to provide hands-on assistance. Players involvement amongst others, ranged from the darting of rhinos to the relocation of some 240 catfish from dams severely affected by the drought.
#Rhinoswithoutborders are doing some fantastic work to preserve the rhino population and we at The Sharks are delighted to partner with &Beyond and in particular Phinda Private Game Reserve to assist in highlighting the great work they do as well as to make a lasting difference.
The #Rhinoswithoutborders logo will appear on our pre-season jersey for our matches against Toulon and Toulouse.
A documentary detailing the Cell C Sharks recent visit to Phinda is currently in production and will be broadcast on Supersport. Keep an eye out on our social media pages for further updates on flighting times and other exciting initiatives linked to this campaign.
