Registration Drive For Hair And Beauty Salon Businesses

22 July 2026 by My Durban

The eThekwini Municipality’s Hair and Beauty Salon Businesses Registration Programme is gaining strong momentum.

Following an encouraging response from salon owners across the City, the registration drive continues this week with workshops in KwaMashu and the Inner Central Business District as the Municipality advances its mission to formalise one of eThekwini’s fastest-growing sectors.

Chairperson of the Economic Development and Planning Committee, Councillor Thembo Ntuli, said the Municipality is encouraged by the growing number of Hair and Beauty Salon businesses visiting Regional Business Licensing Offices to begin the registration process after the successful workshops held in Umlazi and Pinetown.

“The positive response demonstrates that salon owners recognise the importance of operating compliant businesses. Building a comprehensive database of the sector will strengthen compliance and enable the Municipality to provide targeted business support that helps these businesses grow, become more sustainable, and unlock new opportunities,” said Councillor Ntuli.

Members of the media are invited to attend the next registration drive, held under the theme “Compliance Support and Registration”. The programme is designed to help salon owners understand registration and licensing requirements, applicable legislation, compliance processes, and the range of business support available through the Municipality.

The registration drive will take place as follows:

Venue: KwaBester Community Hall, KwaMashu
