As the nation is celebrating the 16 Days of Activism, the The Umlazi Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit are celebrating good convictions they secured for the rape cases they were investigating.
Thamsanqa Ndlovu (35) was convicted and sentenced to three life imprisonment for three counts of rape by the Umlazi Regional Court. The accused raped two victims in separate incidents at Umbumbulu area in December 2013 and the third victim was raped over a period from April 2013 to November 2013. All victims were between 9 and 35 years of age and one of them was a mentally disturbed person.
“As we are celebrating the 16 Days of Activism Campaign "No Violence Against Women and Children," we will continue to ensure that rapist are placed behind bars where they belong,” said the KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni.
