Preview: Cell C Sharks vs Jaguares – Featured Durban Blog

13 April 2017 by My Durban

Preview: Cell C Sharks vs Jaguares:

The Cell C Sharks will be hosting Argentina’s rugby pride, the Jaguares, in Saturday’s round seven Vodacom Super Rugby clash at Growthpoint KINGS PARK.

Our players love playing at home and after two away matches against the Cheetahs and Lions, they are back to give our fans something to cheer about as they prepare for the visiting Jaguares.

Head coach Robert du Preez admits that, “The boys have taken confidence out of the Lions game and have made a lot of progress.”

This Saturday’s match has a distant test match feel to it, especially since the Jaguares will be fielding a fully-fledged test team, with the exception of their scrumhalf.

“We are expecting massive physicality from them. They are a quality side and have really got into their own in their 2nd year in the competition.

“We’ve got a formidable pack that play with aggression. We want our guys to go out there and play their natural game, without holding back.

“The win is important and we don’t want to disappoint our fans.”

With both teams grouped in Africa 2 and with joint log points (18) and the number two spot in the group at stake, the scene is set for a humdinger in Durban.

Captain Tera Mtembu is excited for the challenge that lies ahead and says, “They are a quality side with great physicality, but so too are all the other sides in the competition, and we’ve got to simply man up on Saturday.”

The match kicks off at 15.05pm with exciting entertainment lined-up for the family starting on our renowned outerfields.

Sharkie Press Release:

It has been a great week of prep both on and off the field, as we get ready for the big game this weekend (go, team!). I have missed a few of my teammates who have been with the Springboks, but luckily Rhino has been helping me out with some training drills and getting me familiar with the difference between a Lion and a Jaguar (that’s his turf).

Rhino and I have spent hours on the field and in the gym (I spot for Beast, #JustSaying) preparing for the match on Saturday. A big focus has been on our tackling techniques, clean out at the ruck, as well as ensuring that our systems are just right (to avoid any issues…). I have also been practicing my 65m penalty goals and 50m drop-kicks, just in case the team need me. But I think it’s safe to say that Curwin’s got this one in the bag (yeah boy!).

This is a big weekend for #OurSharks! After all my hours of training this week I am completely ready for whatever Coach Rob needs. Are you?

See you at the stadium! Bring your gees!
