Durban – The Hollywoodbets Dolphins and Six Gun Grill Western Province had to settle for a share of the spoils as weather curtailed the Hollywoodbets Dolphins chase at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium on Wednesday.
Western Province got off to a strong start with their openers putting on a significant stand with a partnership of 143 before they lost their first wicket, Richard Levi dismissed for 65 as the Hollywoodbets Dolphins looked to stem the flow of runs.
The Hollywoodbets Dolphins then picked up their second wicket of the day with the dismissal of Tony de Zorzi for a fluent 89 before he fell to Eathan Bosch who took a neat caught and bowled to dismiss the Western Province captain.
The scoring rate was brought under control from the Hollywoodbets Dolphins bowlers as they looked to restrict the visitors when Gavin Kaplan and Daniel Smith were at the crease.
With the total on 197 in the 41st over of the innings, Western Province lost Kaplan for 25, bowled by Prenelan Subrayen.
16 runs later and the Hollywoodbets Dolphins had their fourth when Smith was also bowled, this time by Kerwin Mungroo for 24 while Lwando Tywaku was also bowled for ten.
George Linde provided them with a good finish when he made 43 off 23 balls only to be dismissed off the final ball of the innings to help Western Province to 280 for six.
The Hollywoodbets Dolphins chase lasted just four deliveries with SJ Erwee hitting one boundary before lightning and thunder forced the players from the field.
Rain then arrived and persisted forcing the umpires to abandon the match and hand both sides a share of the points.
The Hollywoodbets Dolphins travel to Johannesburg to face the Imperial Lions in the CSA One Day Cup on Sunday.
