Residents and businesses are advised of a planned interruption to the water supply on the Southern Aqueduct pipeline from 06h00 on Tuesday, 29 September, until 06h00 on Thursday, 1 October.
?The shutdown is required to facilitate the construction and tie-in of two major connection chambers under Work Package 6 in Westville.
?This is a critical milestone in the project and will affect water supply to parts of the Inner West, Central, and South regions.
?The interruption will enable contractors to undertake work for the new Southern Aqueduct Pipeline Upgrade Project.
?The Southern Aqueduct project is being implemented in several work packages. Work Packages 1, 2, and 3 have been completed and commissioned, while Work Packages 4, 5, and 6 remain under construction.
Once completed, the new infrastructure will strengthen the City’s bulk water network and help reduce the risk of unplanned failures, excessive water losses, and prolonged water supply interruptions associated with emergency repairs to ageing bulk water infrastructure.
?The Southern Aqueduct project represents a major investment in the City’s bulk water infrastructure and, upon completion, will strengthen the bulk water network serving approximately 1.2 million people.
?The municipality apologises to residents and businesses for the inconvenience caused by this planned interruption.
