OPTIMUM WEDNESDAY CLUB RUGBY COLUMN:
College Rovers go to the top of the Optimum Premier Division Moor Cup league log table after putting together their finest performance of the season when they completely destroyed Crusaders with an imperious 61-0 victory on their home grounds at Hollywoodbets Kings Park 3, while Synergy Westville Old Boys were edged out 21-17 by Varsity College at Riverside in Durban North
The game at Riverside could well have gone either way but probably patience and discipline won the day for Varsity College with tries going to Tauren Craze and Malcolm Cele while JP du Preez converted one and added a penalty and Jean Smith kicked two penalties
Westville replied with tries by Joshua Moon and Gav Scott who also added two conversions a penalty
College Rovers went on the rampage against Crusaders crossing for eight tries scored by Ryan Muller (2) and one each from Phiko Sabahle, Charlie Mayeza, Inny Radeba, Minenhle Mthtetwe, Marley Ford, Jason Alexander and Gareth Bredenhann with Justice van Blerk and Radeba sharing the kicks
In the other games Richards Bay beat UKZN Durban 64-31 and Durban Collegians beat Amanzimtoti Rugby Club 54-0
Next weekend Durban Collegians host College Rovers, Varsity College entertain Richards Bay, Westville Old Boys travel to meet UKZN Pietermaritzburg at the Peter Booysen Stadium in the Capital and Crusaders are at home to UKZN Durban
