Nutrition experts head to Scottburgh to share tips on eating habits to improve health and behaviour

22 February 2024 by My Durban

Good food can serve as a medicine, improving body, mind, and soul. For families, good eating habits impact behaviour, improving quality of life for everyone. These are some of the nutritional insights set to be unpacked at the RE-WILD WELLNESS event taking place at the Premier Hotel Cutty Sark, in Scottburgh on the KZN Coast on Thursday, 29 February from 5pm.

Danni Venter, Nutritionist and Dietician; Rachelle Walker, Chef and Caterer; and Shez Rossouw, Wellness Coach will be addressing audiences on nutrition, wellness, and the positive impact it can bring to everyday life. These nutrition experts will share simple tricks for creating nutritious options easily, as well as small changes in the kitchen that can benefit a family’s health and well-being.

“We’re encouraging anyone who wants to improve their knowledge of nutrition and wellbeing to attend the RE-WILD WELLNESS event,” said Rachelle Walker. “This is an important chance to learn about how good food and nutrition can positively benefit because good food heals.”

Shez Rossouw said she will be speaking on the impact of nutrition: “More specifically, I will be speaking on the connection between nutrition and how it impacts behaviour and EQ which ultimately impacts the dynamic of the family. Simple, everyday activities like sharing a healthy homemade meal together can create a space of invited sharing which can be such a connecting experience for the family.”

Danni Venter said the event was a look at how to get back to basics in what children should be eating: “We look at how to get kids back to eating real food. A lot of kids get diagnosed with ADHD when it could be excessive sugar consumption. This is just getting a grip on how we should be feeding our kids.”

The team will share ideas, tips, and hacks for preparing healthy meals, snacks, and lunch boxes for the entire family. There will also be fantastic meal preparation demonstrations and hands-on snack-making so that participants leave empowered to make nutritious food.

Nutrition Tips from the Experts

• The 6 best doctors are sunshine, water, rest, air, exercise, and a healthy diet.
• The deficiency of one vitamin can lead to many different illnesses.
• A healthy diet doesn’t require fancy or complicated meals – just good food from fresh ingredients.
• Low fat, low calories, and depriving oneself isn’t nutritious! Nourish your body with real whole foods so that you’re consistently satisfied and energised.
• Don’t eat to control your weight or body size, eat for nourishment and well-being!

Goodie Bags and Giveaways

There will be lots of delicious treats, recipes, and takeaways at the RE-WILD WELLNESS event, making it well worthwhile for attendees.

• Attendees get a coupon discount for Danni Venter’s Online Masterclass on Kids Health, Shez Rossouw’s Wellness Coaching, Janine Botha’s Wellness and Lifestyle Coaching, and a voucher from Liz Cunningham for Somatic Dance classes.
• There will be samples and prize donations from Laager Rooibos, Laager Tea4Kidz, and Origin Collagen.
• There will be lucky draw prizes sponsored by The Big Cheese, and Dean’s Bread.
• Flava’s Cakery will do the catering as well as supplying recipes and take-home DIY date bites; while Pharoes Cakes will have a stall on the evening with sample muffins.
