Nominate a good looking Verge

28 January 2016 by Alan

EThekwini Municipality’s Parks, Leisure and Cemeteries Unit is currently running a verge campaign aimed at encouraging residents of the City to beautify and keep their verges clean and well maintained.

As part of the campaign, residents are encouraged to submit details of verges they feel are creatively landscaped, well maintained, visually appealing and contribute to the beautification of their street and neighbourhood.

Entries will then be assessed by representatives from the Municipality. The winners will be recognised at a Mayoral Award Ceremony to be held in April.

The verge campaign supports the Clean and Maintain My City Campaign which is a call by eThekwini Mayor James Nxumalo for all residents to take ownership of their areas and keep them clean.

The annual campaign, started in 2012, has grown over the years as an increasing number of residents are made aware of the importance of taking ownership of their communities.

The verge campaign aims to mobilise communities as verges are often the first thing you see when you enter a neighbourhood. If all verges in the community are well maintained by residents, it can uplift the area as a whole.

Interested parties can send a photograph of their verge accompanied by a short motivation to lance.rasmussen@durban.gov.za , MMS to 083 454 9819 or hand deliver their entry to Botanic Gardens, 70 St. Thomas Road, Berea , Durban.

Remember to include the physical address, name and contact details of the property owner or occupant and specify whether it is a residential house, block of flats or business area.

Entries close on Friday, 04 March 2016.
