My SME Projects R2.21 Million in Annual Sales Potential for Siyabonga Community Bakeries

2 October 2026 by My Durban

Practical business coaching and financial modelling provide three community bakery businesses with clearer strategies for sales, profitability and sustainable growth.

My SME partnered with Siyabonga Africa to deliver an Enterprise and Supplier Development programme supporting three community-based bakery businesses. The 12-week programme combined business coaching, financial modelling, branding, digital development and marketing support to help the entrepreneurs better understand their businesses and develop practical foundations for sustainable growth.

The programme began with business coaching and strategy development, helping the bakery entrepreneurs strengthen their understanding of business fundamentals and consider areas such as products, pricing, customers, sales and growth. Financial modelling was then used to develop projections that provided the businesses with a clearer view of their potential sales and gross profitability based on the business models developed during the programme.

The combined financial model projected daily sales of R6,057.60, equivalent to R186,124 in projected monthly sales and R2,211,024 in projected annual sales across the three businesses. The model also projected combined gross profit of R4,002.73 per day, R123,139.67 per month and R1,460,997.33 annually. These figures represent business projections based on the models developed through the programme and are not reported realised sales or profits.

Alongside the business and financial development work, My SME supported the bakery businesses with branding, logo development, digital presence and marketing. Google Business Profile and Maps setup helped strengthen their visibility within their local markets, while marketing materials and social media support provided practical tools for communicating their businesses and products to potential customers.

The programme was delivered in partnership with Siyabonga Africa through its Siyakhula Enterprise Development Initiative, which focuses on Enterprise, Supplier and Community Development and the incubation and development of township entrepreneurs and informal traders. The Siyabonga Bakeries project provides a platform for community-based bakery businesses to develop their operations while creating opportunities for local entrepreneurship and economic participation.

“Financial modelling gives entrepreneurs a clearer picture of what their business could achieve and what needs to happen to reach those goals. Our focus was to combine those financial insights with practical business coaching, branding and marketing support so that the entrepreneurs had tools they could apply to the day-to-day development of their businesses.”
