Moore shines on day one in Durban – Featured Durban Blog

Moore shines on day one in Durban:

Durban – The Hollywoodbets Dolphins were made to work hard for their wickets as Warriors opening batsman Eddie Moore notched up 152 not out on day one of their 4-Day Domestic Series match at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium on Thursday.

Moore carried his bat through the entire day’s play as the Warriors finished the day on 348 for five off 91 overs.

On a flat wicket the Warriors elected to bat first and it was the correct decision as the Dolphins bowlers were made to work hard for any reward throughout the day.

The Dolphins would have felt like they had an opportunity to make inroads into the Warriors line up when Lwandiswa Zuma bagged two wickets to leave the visitors 29 for two.

Moore was then joined by Yaseen Vallie and the pair combined to put their side in a strong position with a partnership of 144 before Senuran Muthusamy bagged the wicket of Vallie for 84, caught by Dolphins debutant Mangaliso Mosehle.

Warriors captain Jon-Jon Smuts was back in the hut soon after for a duck, run out after facing just two balls.

Sinethemba Qeshile and Moore then combined to take the total past 200 and towards 250 before the former became the fifth wicket to fall, stumped off the bowling of Muthusamy.

Moore continued in unflappable fashion and made the Dolphins bowlers pay when it counted.

Him and Kelly Smuts combined to score 103 runs between them as the opener went to 150 and then Smuts brought up an impressive half century at better than a run-a-ball.

Between the two batsmen they put together 165 in 33 overs in the final session of the day to take their side just shy of 350 for five.

SUMMARY OF SCORE
Warriors 348 for five (Moore 152* Vallie 84 Smuts 55* Zuma 2/67 Muthusamy 2/87)
