Maiden Van Jaarsveld T20 ton keeps Dolphins semi-final hopes alive – Featured Durban Blog

27 April 2019 by My Durban

Maiden Van Jaarsveld T20 ton keeps Dolphins semi-final hopes alive:

Durban – A resurgent Vaughn van Jaarsveld blasted a maiden T20 hundred that helped the Hollywoodbets Dolphins to a much-needed seven wicket win over the Warriors in their CSA T20 Challenge match in PE.

The left-handed Van Jaarsveld, making his first appearance of the campaign, scored 112 not out off just 69 deliveries with twelve fours and five sixes to guide his side home.

Earlier the Dolphins won the toss and bowled first which proved to be a good decision as seamers Rob Frylinck and Daryn Dupavillon bagged a wicket each inside the first six overs.

The Warriors were 38 for three at the end of the powerplay; spinner Keshav Maharaj bagged the wicket of Sinethemba Qeshile in the sixth over.

Wickets were shared between the bowlers with Frylinck and in-form Prenelan Subrayen picking up two wickets each.

There was one wicket each for Dupavillon, Maharaj and Senuran Muthusamy.

A fifty for Sisanda Magala and some lusty blows towards the back end from Andrew Birch helped the Warriors to 153 for seven in their 20 overs.

Van Jaarsveld dominated the chase from the outset and in the opening stand of 40 between him and Morné van Wyk, the latter only contributed three.

Cody Chetty continued his good form with a run-a-ball 26 before he was out LBW with the total on 121 in the fourteenth over.

Van Jaarsveld went to his century in 18th over when he hit Lutho Sipamla for 14 which included a maximum and two boundaries.

Andile Phehlukwayo fell for seven with a run to get but it was Van Jaarsveld who hit the winning run to give the Dolphins a much-needed win.

They return home to face the WSB Cape Cobras in their final group game on Sunday.

As it stands the Dolphins still sit in fifth place and a win on Sunday is not negotiable.

If the Dolphins win and the Multiply Titans lose then the Durban side will make the semi-finals.

SUMMARY OF SCORE
