Log leading Dolphins slip to lions in Potch MODC thriller:

Durban – The Hollywoodbets Dolphins slipped to just their third defeat in ten matches in the Momentum One Day Cup when they lost to the Imperial Lions by four wickets in Potchefstroom on Friday night.

Skipper Prenelan Subrayen said he that the side was looking to greater consistency going into the knock-out stages of the competition.

“I think we have been playing really good cricket in patches,” he said. “I think we need consistency in all facets of the game. We will be looking to work at every facet of it.”

Having been put in to bat by the hosts the Hollywoodbets Dolphins amassed 262/9 in their 50 overs, anchored by a robust 71 off 75 balls from Grant Roelofsen, continuing his stellar impact on the Momentum One Day Cup.

Marques Ackerman contributed a measured 43 before the Lions stifled the Durban side’s scoring rate in the middle of their innings.

Sarel Erwee was forced to retire hurt earlier, but returned to continue his innings before he was dismissed for 58 trying to reverse sweep Bjorn Fortuin.

Robbie Frylinck and Sen Muthusamy added momentum to the latter stages of the Dolphins’ innings to get them to a defendable total.

In their reply the Lions made a concerted charge at the target total, anchored by a half century from Dominic Hendricks.

Robbie Frylinck starred with the ball for the Dolphins, taking the key scalp of Reeza Hendricks for 28, and conceding runs at a miserly run rate.

Debutantes Andile Mogkakane and Lifa Ntanzi also got in on the act with the ball, taking wickets along with new Protea Daryn Dupavillon.

They couldn’t throttle back Hendricks, who held together the Lions innings as they got across the line with an over to spare to win by four wickets.

Subrayen said that the side was looking forward to paying their semi-final in front of the fans at Hollwoodbets Kingsmead Stadium.

“The fans of Durban really enjoy watching us play. I can tell you they are going to be out there supporting us,” he said.
