Laying the roots for future green fingers

7 September 2021 by My Durban

On Friday, 3 September, Crocworld Conservation Centre in Scottburgh teamed up with Pennington Conservancy for an important educational collaboration at The Beach Café. Children from Pennington Pre-primary School were invited to learn all about the importance of trees in celebration of Arbor Week (1 to 7 September). They enjoyed informative talks on insects, planted some seeds and ended off with some popcorn and soft-serve ice cream. Crocworld Conservation Centre Manager,

James Wittstock, extended his appreciation to Pennington Conservancy, saying this was a great initiative: “It’s essential that the younger generation form a real connection with nature, and understand, from an early age, the importance of the plant and animal kingdom. Through talks like these, we’re able to foster a lifelong love for conservation that will serve to protect all our planet’s inhabitants.” Crocworld Conservation Centre runs a number of educational programmes throughout the year, including the monthly Bushbabies talks. To find out more, visit www.crocworld.co.za or contact Crocworld Conservation Centre on 039 976 1103. Visitors are also welcome to view the interesting animal species at Crocworld, where all relevant Covid-19 protocols are followed. Mask wearing, sanitising and family group social distancing regulations are in place, with the centre and on-site Fish Eagle Café open from 9am to 4.30pm
