Lamontville Cricket club scores big with Hollywoodbets – Featured Durban Blog

2 December 2016 by Alan

Lamontville Cricket club scores big with Hollywoodbets:

When the Hollywoodbets Dolphins hosted the Multiply Titans on the 30th of November 2016 Hollywoodbets hosted Lamontville Cricket Club at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead. Members from the club’s under 11, under 13 and under 15 teams were thrilled to be able to watch a professional cricket match live. Lamontville was chosen as the company’s third Hollywoodbets cricket development club. Lamontville will receive the largest sum of money donated during this series to date, with the grand total of R8 200 being donated to them thanks to 7 sixes being hit throughout the match, each six entitles the club to a minimum R200 donation while one of the sixes landed on the purple Hollywoodbets roof and was worth R2 000!

Blamontvilleandile Khati, Coach at Lamontville Cricket Club, was thankful for the financial support and this exciting experience provided by Hollywoodbets. “It is great to see the kids having such a good time and enjoying this live cricket match. It is so exciting to watch great players like Kevin Pietersen playing the game. Our club desperately needs updated equipment and playing gear and we face many challenges, including finding transport money to go to and from matches and an appropriate area to practice. At the moment we are practicing on a basketball court because our local cricket ground is not properly maintained. Today’s sponsorship will go a long way to improving the sport of cricket among the previously disadvantaged youth in our community,” he said.

Zolisa Diki, Corporate Social Investment Coordinator at Hollywoodbets, enjoyed meeting the team. “These kids really enjoyed watching their night out. You could see that they were following every detail of the match very closely and that they were inspired by seeing these professional players’ skills. As a company we believe in investing in our future sports stars, so we are thrilled to see young players like these who are serious about the game benefitting from this initiative,” she said.

For each T20 match played in Durban the company will feature one development cricket team from the Greater Durban area as their cricket development club. The chosen club will receive free tickets to a match at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead, transport to and from the match, #DolFanArmy T-shirts and caps as well as a meal. On top of that they will also receive a financial contribution of R5 000 as well as an additional R200 for every six hit during the match!
