KZNCU township and development coaches graduate as sport club administrators:
Nine KZNCU township and development coaches recently graduated as sport club administrators after successfully completing an NQF Level 4 Exercise Training Academy (ETA) course.
Sandile Hlongwa of Lindelani, Xolani Gasa of Umlazi, Mkhuliseni Shoze of Ngonyameni, Prudence Gcabashe of KwaSanti, Scelo Madlala of Adams Mission, Nduduzo Ngcobo of Lindelani, Bheki Nyathikazi of KwaSanti and Sibonelo Gwala of KwaNgcolosi (Lindelani) underwent six months of intensive theoretical and practical training which included shadowing sports administrators. “They were amazing – their attitude towards learning was excellent,” said Wiaan de Wet the regional manager of ETA who facilitated the programme.
De West said that the coaches learnt the basic administrative skills associated with running a sport and fitness business as well as leadership skills.
“I learnt so much,” said Prudence Gcabashe, one of the graduates. “I didn’t know how to start a business on my own, but now I’ve learnt that it’s not hard to do so. I learnt how to do a budget, what to consider before starting a business.”
“I am so excited and am looking forward to furthering my qualification.”
Sanelisiwe Kuzwayo, the KZN Hubs/RPC manager said that the union had decided to enrol the coaches for the programmes to help them enhance their administrative and communication skills. “Our coaches are good when it comes to cricketing skills and coaching – but we wanted to assist them in expressing themselves better and undertaking administrative tasks with more knowledge and confidence.”
She thanked Cricket South Africa cricket services manager Eddie Khoza for funding the initiative.
