KZN Cricket excel with SA Cricket awards nominations:

Durban – Hot on the heels of their successful season, KZN cricketers and the Hollywoodbets Dolphins coach have been nominated in every domestic category for the upcoming CSA Awards scheduled for next week Monday.

It was a memorable season for the Dolphins who finished with two trophies in the cabinet as well as making the final of the Betway T20 Challenge to show for their efforts last summer.

In what is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious awards, Dolphins coach Imraan Khan is nominated in the Pitchvision Coach of the Year category along with Lions coach Wandile Gwavu.

The Dolphins have nominations in every domestic category with young speedster Lifa Ntzani nominated in the Newcomer of the Year category along with Northerns player Neil Brand.

In the 4-Day Domestic Cricketer of the Year category the Dolphins have two nominations with Keshav Maharaj and former Dolphin Senuran Muthusamy up for the award along with Aiden Markram and Kyle Verreynne.

Maharaj is also nominated for the Betway T20 Player of the Year award, where he’ll be up against Reeza Hendricks, Sisanda Magala and Verreynne for the award.

In the Momentum One Day Cup Player of the Year category Rob Frylinck leads the way for the Dolphins where he’ll come up against Imran Manack, Janneman Malan and Dom Hendricks.

From a national perspective Momentum Proteas speedster Shabnim Ismail dominates the nominations with six nominations to her name.

These include T20 Cricketer, One Day Cricketer, Fans Cricketer, SA Women’s Cricketer and RAM Delivery of the Year as well as a nomination for the KFC Streetwise Award – for her 5/12 against Pakistan in the second T20I at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium in January.

Young Nonkululeko Mlaba has been nominated in the SA Fans’ Cricketer of the Year category.

From a national men’s perspective, both David Miller and Andile Phehlukwayo have gained a nomination in the One Day International Cricketer of the Year classification.

“We are very proud of the nominations that we have received for the upcoming CSA Awards,” CEO of KZN Cricket Heinrich Strydom said.

“To have so many nominations across both the men’s and women’s categories is exciting as we continue to try and grow the game of cricket in the province.

“We have put a lot of emphasis on uplifting the game amongst our KZN women and it is particularly pleasing to be a part of these success stories.

“It’s a great testament to the hard work the players and coach Imraan Khan have put in over the past few seasons and we wish everyone nominated for awards the best of luck.”
