The Cell C Sharks Under 19s and Under 21s travel to the Fanie du Toit Sports Ground in Potchefstroom this Saturday as they take on the Leopards in their respective SA Rugby junior Championship matches.
Although both Cell C harks junior teams enjoyed massive wins over their EP counterparts last weekend, the Leopards will be a different prospect who are likely offer much more by way of opposition.
Head coach of the Cell C Sharks Under 19s Sean Everitt hasn’t made a solitary change to his team and why not? After putting on a record 134-7 victory over EP last weekend (scoring 20 tries in the process), the coach will be looking for more of the same from his charges who have gone the entire competition undefeated to date.
The Under 21s got their season off to a similarly emphatic start with a 99-7 win over EP and head coach Ricardo Loubscher was philosophical about a game in which too much couldn’t be read into the result.
“We actually had a poor start in the first 20 minutes but once we got going, we earned front-foot ball and then played to our strengths, using our forwards to gain momentum and got reward from that.
“With that, we brought the backs into the game and we managed to put the result away.”
His team are not likely to find the going quite so one way when they meet the Leopards.
“We were hoping to get a really good workout against EP, it’s always good to analyse your performance on a Monday after the game. But this week we’ll be looking for an improved performance because we know it’s going to be tough up there,” explained Loubscher.
“They’re always physical, they have a strong backline with a 9, 10 and 12 who can all take control of the game and manage it.
“But we’re going there with a plan and hopefully the boys can execute it.”
