Skateboarding, Kimberley – Saturday 5 March is the date for the Kimberley Diamond Cup Street Skateboarding Contest, and it is an event that you don’t want to miss. Stacked with incredible prizemoney for the skaters, and a list of excellent musicians and bands performing, it is going to be a good day out in Kimberly.

After a shaky start to the tournament, with COVID and the 4th wave playing all sorts of havoc with this event and many others, the KDC was initially called off, much to everyone’s disappointment.

However, as the situation settled, the competition organisers saw the window opening, and the contest was called on at the Kimberly Skate Plaza on Saturday 5th March 2022.

Durban skater Khule Ngubane will be competing in the tournament and eyeing those sweet prizes. Originally from Chesterville, Khule is a seasoned competitor, and the Monster Energy athlete is prepared for this contest. The 28-year-old Khule has been skating since he was 12, and has always been competitive by nature. Check out his mini-profile video here https://youtu.be/v0IuSixIUDc

In the Men’s Open, the winner takes home R50k, while the runner-up gets R30k and 3rd takes home R20k. It’s a good knock for a day’s work.

The artist lineup includes the inimitable DJ Speedsta, Twins On Decks, B Reigns, SO Say Miss TT, Mandeep, DJ Sacs, Lenvora, T Something & Naftaly.

There is also BMX and FMX shows on the day. Gates open at 10 am.

For more details of the event, head over to the KDC Skate Facebook Page.
