JOINT MEDIA RELEASE THE SHARKS PARTNER WITH CAMERON JAMES REAL ESTATE – Featured Durban Blog

17 October 2020 by My Durban

JOINT MEDIA RELEASE THE SHARKS PARTNER WITH CAMERON JAMES REAL ESTATE:

Durban, 16 October 2020:  The Sharks are pleased to announce that we have partnered with Cameron James Real Estate, who will provide scholarships and property education to our players.

Our vision at The Sharks is not only to create an inclusive environment for rugby players to succeed on the field of play, but to also introduce them to opportunities that will lay a solid foundation for life after rugby.

Cameron James is a new age company full of energy and has many years of successful experience, which gives them an edge in the property industry in South Africa. As well as having residential sales offices, which service the entire North coast of KZN including Umhlanga, they partner with property developers to conceptualise, market and sell their developments. They have a unique edge over traditional agencies as they complete the Real Estate circle when it comes to selling, developing and renting on gated estates and real estate in residential areas.

The association with Cameron James, created by Peter Cameron and ex-Sharks and Springbok star Butch James, will assist us in enabling this vision.  This partnership will allow players to get great insight into the property industry, which could be beneficial to them from both a career and investor perspective.

This partnership will also extend to our Sharks Academy, with the ultimate vision being the formation of a Property Academy, where prospective Sharks Academy students would be able to choose a property course as part of the academic offering.

The Sharks CEO, Dr Eduard Coetzee said: “We are really excited to formalize our partnership with Cameron James.  We have a holistic approach to our player development and associations such as this gives our players the opportunity to learn about the property industry, which will assist them in making informed future decisions.  We look forward to a successful and mutually beneficial partnership.”

“We are very excited to be partnering with the Sharks and it has been a dream of both of ours for years. Butch wanting to give back to the union that gave him so much is at the heart of the partnership. Through our scholarship, in conjunction with the Prop Academy, we hope to unlock the potential of the players that have joined our team, and create a successful transformation for life after rugby, and a passive income while they are still playing.

“This is just the beginning of a mutually beneficial partnership with lots of exciting opportunities that will come through it. Thanks to Eduard and his team for letting us join the Sharks family.”

ENDS.

Quick Durban KwaZulu-Natal Fact: The “Cuban Hat” and its neighbour “The Nest” were two very popular drive in locales situated on the then Lower Marine Parade in Durban. They were especially popular in the late 50s / early 60s when own car transport became an essential must have amongst young adults. These were the days when young adult life changed considerably when freedom of movement, the changed music and habits of the time and there was a general improvement in living standards. Initially any form of car was better than none because as the saying was, it enabled you to get to “where the action was”. Action being where parties, socials, “sessions” and get togethers. The fact that you could pick up your mates or girl friends and go together as a group made life good. Parents of the time had to adjust to the times because they were brought up when stricter parental control was generally enforced. The days of dates being, sitting in the lounge with the parents were no longer and life was now centred on getting out and about and mixing with your own age group.
