Industrial Luxe: So I know I’ve been pinning a lot lately. Well, there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight! I’m now on the kitchen island inspiration hunt and it’s looking a lot like ‘industrial luxe’ is going to win this race – I am obsessing over black metal, marble counters, castors and everything edgy on Pinterest right now. Here’s some of my inspiration – all pics and their sources can be found on my board, ‘Kitchen + Dining‘. Plus I think I’ve found the perfect person to make it for me – will share more in some later posts 🙂
Industrial-organic office refurb: What do you do breathe life into a predominantly concrete and exposed brick building, which houses an investment company? You embrace the striking architecture and opt for an industrial-organic aesthetic. This is how design firm, Inhouse Brand Architects, tackled a recent refurb of the offices for Infrastructure investment company, GAIA, based in Claremont, Cape Town. The existing curved walls and glass windows, intricate timber-clad ceilings and beams, led the design team toward the industrial-organic aesthetic, incorporating the colours of black, blue and gold from the GAIA corporate ID into the design. Neutral tones and modern furnishings compliment the look, as do the use of concrete and timber and a second-floor mezzanine is accessed via a steel staircase.
