Hollywoodbets’ fifth development cricket club to receive R7 000 – Featured Durban Blog

12 December 2016 by My Durban

Hollywoodbets’ fifth development cricket club to receive R7 000:

Despite Sunday’s rainy weather Sahara Stadium Kingsmead played host to a few happy faces during the T20 Challenge match on the 11th of December 2016. Hollywoodbets hosted the players and coach of KwaMakhutha cricket club as their fifth and final cricket development club during this series.

Rain resulted in play being suspended at intervals throughout the day, so the Hollywoodbets Dolphins and the VKB Nights each played only eight overs. However, due to the shortened nature of this game Hollywoodbets still decided to donate the average amount of sixes hit during matches in the series which resulted in a R7000 donation to this team!

Mondli Dlamini Coach and Chairman of KwaMakhutha Cricket Club, is very thankful for the company’s generosity. “Our club faces a lot of challenges at the moment because we don’t have adequate facilities. We currently train on a local tennis court because this is the best option available to us.

“We also don’t have a kit for our Under 11 team, so we will use the funds donated today to buy this kit for our players. The kids are very happy to be here today. It is their first time being in a professional match environment and I believe being exposed to this will change and inspire them.

“They have enjoyed seeing their heroes in action. They also loved the free burgers and playing on the jumping castle. Thank you to Hollywoodbets for starting this positive initiative and for choosing our team to be part of it!” he said.

Zolisa Diki, Corporate Social Investment Coordinator at Hollywoodbets, believes in the positive impact this initiative is making. “Well done to our final cricket development club for the good work that they are doing in their community, and for contacting us about this project!

At Hollywoodbets we believe in supporting those that are already doing good work in the communities that we are also a part of. We chose the KwaMakhutha club because we could see that they are passionate about equipping their players and helping them to become skilled cricket players, despite the obstacles they face. We wish your team all the best for the future and encourage you to keep inspiring young players as they learn more about the great sport of cricket.” she said.
