Why did you want to be affiliated with The Sharks as an official Supporters venue?
We are big supporters of both International and Regional local rugby. We may be a little skewed towards the Sharks, as Paddy, one of the Directors, is from KZN and a huge Sharks supporter. Over the years, we have also observed the massive support for the Sharks in Gauteng and wanted to be part of it!
How would you describe the vibe on a Saturday afternoon/evening at Hogshead Illovo?
On big sports days, the venue can get really busy – be sure to book a table! There is an awesome vibe throughout the venue, and things can get a bit loud!
What would you recommend pairs best with rugby from your kitchen?
This would depend on who you’re watching the rugby with…For big tables, we suggest creating a Hogs Board with an awesome selection of ‘tapas’ style portions. Our sharing Nachos, or a Herd of hot Buffalo wings also pairs well with one of our award-winning Brewhogs Craft Beers.
What makes Hogshead Illovo such a special venue in Johannesburg?
We are situated very ‘centrally’ in Joburg, with easy access from the M1 highway, up Corlett Drive, a short distance along Oxford Road. Four levels of safe underground
parking and a busy Uber pick-up spot make Hogs Illovo very accessible for both drivers and Uber users.
