Hijacked Vehicles and Firearm Recovered

18 December 2014 by Alan

Chatsworth police responded to a hijacking complaint at Crossmoor area where a silver VW Polo vehicle was allegedly hijacked by three suspects. Whilst busy at the scene, the members received information about another hijacking incident where the driver of a blue Hyundai was hijacked at Shallcross area. Description of the vehicle used by the suspects was given to the members and upon receiving information of the hijacking incident in the Shallcross area the description of the vehicle appeared to be the same vehicle that was hijacked at Crossmoor by three men. The members started to trace the said vehicle and it was found capsized. Two occupants were found dead. It is suspected that they were involved in both hijackings and their vehicle was involved in an accident. A blue Hyundai was later found at St Wendolins area and a 9mm pistol with serial number filed off was recovered inside a vehicle.

The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni praised Chatsworth police quickly responding to the complaints and the recovery of the firearm.
