Go ahead for Cato Manor Museum

26 February 2014 by Alan

EXCO agreed to increase the budget for the construction of the Cato Manor Museum Complex Phase1B from R25-million to R75-million and the provision of an operating budget of R5.1-million for the 2015/16 financial year. The Complex is set to be one of the major tourist attractions for eThekwini and will capture the rich history of the Zulu Nation and their role in the liberation struggle as well as the trials and tribulations of the people of Umkhumbane in the face of repression.

The site currently hosts the grave of Queen Thomozile, mother of Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini, which further elevates the heritage value of the place.

City Manager Sithole said; “This is one of the projects to be built in eThekwini that is trend setting.”
