The Durban Business Fair (DBF) is serious about connecting local businesses globally. In a bid to achieve this objective, the City is bringing a top line-up of national and international inspirational speakers to share their skills and lifetime experiences to assist local entrepreneurs to be ready for global business opportunities.
Topping the list is Iyanla Vanzant, an American inspirational speaker, life coach and author who also features on Oprah Winfrey shows. She will address entrepreneurs during the Business Seminar taking place from 13 to 14 October 2015 at Durban’s Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre. The Conference will act as a build-up to the exhibition to be held from 16 to 18 October 2015 at the Durban Exhibition Centre.
A bestselling author, speaker and Emmy award winner, Vanzant will motivate thousands of delegates from around the world with her inspirational talks. She will speak about how to successfully promote a business and share tips to assist women run successful businesses.
Vanzant will also touch on topics such as how to be your own boss and how to navigate success. She will be joined by Dr AL Sharpton who is the founder and President of the National Action Network who will focus on winning tips of trading globally. New York based stylist June Ambrose will talk about how to self-build your brand.
Deputy Mayor and Chairperson of Economic Development and Planning Committee Nomvuzo Shabalala said: “We were not taking people for a ride when we themed the programme –”Connecting Durban Business Fair Globally”. Bringing on board such high profile people who are respected worldwide is evidence that the City is serious about developing small businesses and linking them to international markets. In order to alleviate poverty and decrease unemployment rate we must try all angles that can develop businesses.”
Shabalala said the DBF is recognised as key innovative driver in positioning and exposing local businesses, and each year the City strives to enhance its programmes to meet its goals.
“This year the DBF will be at another level as it marks the launch of the City’s three-year partnership ending in 2017 with the United States of America’s City of New Orleans Essence Empowerment Festival programme,” she said.
Shabalala said the programme is the result of the City’s many efforts of connecting businesses globally as it will come with the benefits of exchanging knowledge in various sectors such as parenting corner, youth desk, local filmmakers, musicians, fashion designers, those in the beauty industry and many more.
