On September 21st, the United Nations “Day of Peace” is celebrated and in light of this day, a festival for Peace is held globally in over 600 locations in 60 countries.

Now in its 19th year, Earthdance – The global festival for Peace – will take place from Friday, 18th to Sunday, 20th September 2015 with the KZN leg being brought to you by Cosmic Collective, Emithini, Urban Shaman & Friends at The Prawn Shack in Amatikulu on the north coast of Durban, from 3pm on Friday, September 18th, 2015.

Join hundreds of thousands of Earthdancers globally in giving Peace a Dance at “The Global Party for Peace”, a three day multi-genre music festival featuring two dancefloors, an array of DJ’s, musicians, solo artists, poets, performers, Emithini décor, Kids zone, Conscious Cinema, Visionary Art Exhibitions, Organic Hare Krishna Food, Recycle Projects, Permaculture talks, Earthdance Traders Village and a whole lot more to keep your spirits high and your feet tapping along all weekend!

Amongst the live performances is special headlining guest, and one of the world’s most respected percussionists, Master Drummer, Mabi Gabriel Thobejane.

Thobejane, who forms part of Melt 2000, a unique recording label, is well-known for being the Lead Percussionist with Juno Reactor on The Matrix Soundtrack, amongst many other projects. He travelled to Hollywood with Ben Watkins in 2003 to work on some of the sound tracks for the block buster film which was a collaboration that involved Deepak Ram – another Melt 2000 artist.

“In 2004, Thobejane’s ex-band, Sakhile, went back to the studio to reunite for a series of live performances including a main stage appearance at the Cape Town North Sea Jazz Festival. It was in this same year that he joined YFM DJ Rudeboy Paul for a series of live performances following an emergence of more drum and percussion based dance music. This led to recording an album with Thabang Tabane produced by Ben Amato in 2005.” (Melt 2000)

Thobejane is joined by many more of KwaZulu-Natal’s most highly acclaimed musicians, including Shomon, Sara Jackson, Murry Caetano, Khaya, Delwyn and many more!

DJ’s include DJane Thalia, Gavo, Chris Palmer, GeT.Fx, Social Experiment, Electronomicon, Atari Beyond, Lee Human, Syntax, DJ Shugga, Roger, Clybax, Kaptan Kamanchi, Kaluta, Psypixie, Driva, Psynapse, Doktor NONONO, Drumshack Jon, Jedi McKnight, Illuminaartjie, Ice O Terrik, Sui-Psy-D, Sybo and a whole Earthload more of our country’s most talented DJ’s and producers . A full list of activities and line-ups can be found on the Earthdance Kzn – Global Peace Party – “Awakening” event page
