The institute’s work focuses on enhancing economic development through affording underprivileged learner’s access to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education. These disciplines remain critical among the skills required to achieve acceptable levels of economic prosperity in local communities in particular. MKI’s mandate is to promote quality education and training by implementing developmental, transformative approaches and models to the teaching and learning of STEM with Ubuntu as the overarching value. While MKI is wholly funded by the department, the future sustainability of these programmes is dependent on supplementary funding and the success of this dinner is a huge step towards this objective.
