This astonishing man sailed around the world – solo

This self-effacing gent is Captain Jim McCarthy – I met him in Durban during his solo round-the-world trip from San Diego and all the way back again on his Sailing Yacht Double Angel 42. It was just before the pandemic, and his next stop was Port Elizabeth, as it was known then, and then on to Rio de Janeiro. I trust he made it home before he found himself isolated in some little bay somewhere.
